Councillor Ganotis: Making Manchester a World-Leading Green City Following his election, the Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, announced his ambitions for making Greater Manchester one of the leading green cities in Europe.
To help realise these ambitions, he called for a landmark Green Summit, which was held on 21 March 2018. The event brought together environmental experts, interest groups, partner agencies, academics and local people together to accelerate Greater Manchester’s green ambitions. As a result of the Green Summit, the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) are exploring how we can make Greater Manchester carbon neutral by at least 2040. On Tuesday 16th October at 1pm, Councillor Alex Ganotis, the lead GMCA member for the 'Green City Region' project, will be coming to the University of Manchester to introduce his and the Mayor's ambitions for making Greater Manchester one of Europe’s leading green cities, and to talk about the biggest issues faced by the GMCA and the people of Manchester in meeting the targets of the Green Summit.
